Snow Mountain General Information

How do I buy tickets?

You can complete your secure online ticket purchase right now by clicking here. Snow Mountain tickets include a two-hour tubing session plus access to the snow play areas.

For maximum play time in the snow, advanced ticket purchase is strongly recommended. You choose the best day and time right in the comfort of your own home. When does Snow Mountain open?

Be first to slide down the hill on December 31, 2008 – New Year’s Eve – from 10AM to 8PM.

How can I request a brochure?
You can download a Snow Mountain brochure right now. For a brochure detailing all of Stone Mountain Park’s year-round attractions, just complete the Contact Us form and ask to receive a park brochure.

Can I get directions to Snow Mountain? Does public transportation come to Stone Mountain Park?

Regarding public transportation, MARTA, Atlanta's public transportation service, does not provide transportation directly to Stone Mountain Park. It drops off in the city of Stone Mountain, about 1/2 mile from the Park’s West Gate. To contact MARTA, call 404-848-4711 or visit their website.

You may also wish to check with the hotel at which you are staying to see if they provide transportation for their guests. You may also contact a taxi service to see if they can provide transportation for you.

Where is Snow Mountain? What is the address?
Snow Mountain is located within Stone Mountain Park at the famous Laser Lawn. Due to its size, Stone Mountain Park has several physical addresses. For the easiest directions, it is best to visit Driving Directions. Often, online mapping programs provide routes to Stone Mountain Park that are difficult to follow. If you do prefer to use a mapping program, the physical address is:

This address may appear as "unknown" to some map programs, however, this is the address for the Main Entrance to the Park off U.S. Highway 78.

Snowmaking General Information

How are you making snow when there is a drought?
Snow Mountain uses a closed loop system that borrows water from Stone Mountain Lake, a recreational lake, and does not use city drinking water. See more about the process by checking out the 411 on Snow & Water section of this web site.

What if my child eats the snow, is it safe?
Water drawn from Stone Mountain Lakes goes through a treatment process to bring it to potable standards suitable for people, similar to swimming pool water.

Where do you get the power to run the treatment and snowmaking plant?
Stone Mountain Park is purchasing green energy credits for the production power.

Won’t you damage the laser lawn with so much snow?
Snow Mountain has carefully planned to assure the natural beauty of Stone Mountain Park is always maintained, especially the lawn. Extensive restoration plans have been developed. A new drainage system similar to the one used at ballparks has been installed, which has already benefited the lawn year-round.

Tickets & Reservations

Why do I need reservations for Snow Mountain?
To assure the best time for all guests, Snow Mountain limits the number of participants on the tubing hill per two-hour period. This way, your family and you know you will have maximum play time in the snow. Think of it as assuring you have a seat for your favorite show! Tickets also include access to the snow play areas. Walk-up tickets will only be sold based on availability. Make your reservations today to take a snow day!

Can I buy back-to-back Snow Mountain tickets if I want to extend my tubing time?
Absolutely, assuming the space is available.

Do you have a Snow Mountain season pass?
You can enjoy Snow Mountain for only $15 each visit by becoming a Stone Mountain Park Mountain Member! And with your Mountain Membership Annual Pass, you can visit all of Stone Mountain Park’s family attractions year-round for twelve months, including Spring Fun Break, Summer at the Rock, Pumpkin Festival and Stone Mountain Christmas. Check out new attractions like Sky Hike and perennial favorites like the Skyride and the Mountain Train Ride. I’m an existing Stone Mountain Park Mountain Member, is Snow Mountain included?
Mountain Members save $10 on regular ticket prices! Mountain Members pay only $15 per visit for Snow Mountain. In addition, as a Mountain Member you get in free to Stone Mountain Christmas and many other attractions and special events throughout the year.

Do I have to be a certain age or height for Snow Mountain?
Everyone is welcome at Snow Mountain, young and old. For tubing, you must be at least 42 inches tall and able to ride on your own and only one person is allowed per tube. Younger guests are welcome to play in the snow in the Little Angels area where 48 inches is the maximum height.

Do I need a ticket for Snow Mountain even if I don’t plan to tube?
All guests who want to enter Snow Mountain must have a ticket. To ensure the best time for all guests, Snow Mountain limits the number of participants per two-hour period. This allows you and your family to have maximum play time in the snow. Think of it as reserving a seat for your favorite show! Walk-up tickets will only be sold based on availability. As an existing Mountain Member, do I still need to make a reservation for Snow Mountain?
Yes, it is strongly recommended you make an advance reservation to assure the session time you want. The reservations system will verify your Mountain Membership to grant your $15 Mountain Member rate. For verification purposes, you will also be required to show your Mountain Member photo ID for each individual Mountain Member in your family once you get to the snow park. If you cannot present a valid Mountain Member card you will have to pay the full price for your ticket.

What is the parking fee to enter Snow Mountain? Is this fee "per vehicle" or "per person"? What does this parking fee include? How much is bus parking?

Operating Schedules

What time does Snow Mountain open? Can I go in to the snow park before my reservation time?
Opening day is New Year’s Eve 2008 from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. EST. Afterwards, Snow Mountain opens weekends at 4 p.m. EST on Fridays and 10 a.m. EST Saturday and Sundays, January 2 to March 1. For maximum snow time, it is recommended you arrive at least 45 minutes before your reservation time to allow for parking and check-in. Visit the When to Come page for exact opening and closing times for the day you want to visit.

Depending on capacity, you will be allowed to enter the Snow Mountain snow park prior to your reservation time. NOTE: You will only be allowed on to tube during your designated reservation time.

What hotels are close to Snow Mountain? How do I make a hotel reservation?
Reserve a room at the classic Stone Mountain Inn, centrally located across the street from the snow park or at the Evergreen Marriott Resort, a free five-minute shuttle ride away. Twenty-four hour reservations are available at 888-670-2250.

How can I make a Campground Reservation?
To make a Campground reservation, you can complete our Online Booking Form or call 800-385-9807 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

What does it cost to rent a camp site?
Campsite rentals generally range from $25 - $50 and vary based on the utilities offered and location within the campground.

What if I need to cancel or change my Campground reservation?
Cancellation of reservations must be made at least 72 hours (three days) prior to the date of your reservation. Changes can be made if possible; however, there is no guarantee you will receive a site in the exact area of your choice.

Private Events

Is it possible to book a private party at Snow Mountain?
Yes! Group tickets are available for groups of 15 or more or you can even rent out the entire mountain for your own private event! Whether your event is for 50 to several thousand, Snow Mountain offers the chance for everyone to take a snow day and act like a kid! What are my eating options at Snow Mountain?

I’m planning to come early for my snow day, are there places to eat breakfast at Stone Mountain Park?
Breakfast is served at Waterside Restaurant and the Mountainview Restaurant.

Do I need reservations at Miss Katie’s Sideboard Restaurant? Can reservations be made for large groups?
Reservations are not taken at Miss Katie’s Sideboard Restaurant. Large groups can notify the restaurant staff on the day of their visit that they have a large party; however, large parties will be seated as space is available. Everyone in the party may not get to sit together.

Can I bring my own food to Snow Mountain?
For the safety of all Snow Mountain guests, coolers, outside food and alcohol are not permitted.

Pavilion Rentals, Catered Events & Other Group Outings

Can I reserve a pavilion? How much does it cost?
There are two types of pavilions at the Stone Mountain Park. Most pavilions are Catered Pavilions and require that your event is catered by Stone Mountain Park. However, there are three Non-Catered Pavilions that can be rented without Park Catering. Pricing varies according to the type of pavilion and day of the week.

Can I rent a pavilion, but bring my own food?
Yes. You would have to choose one of the three Non-Catered Pavilions. No outside caterers are allowed inside Stone Mountain Park.

Can I reserve the Riverboat?
Yes. The Henry W. Grady Riverboat is available for private cruises.

Do you have any birthday party packages?
Currently, Stone Mountain Park does not offer a specific birthday party package. Many of the park’s guests use one of the public picnic areas for cake and gift giving, then move the party to the attractions such as Snow Mountain. Adult birthday parties, catered by the park, can be scheduled through the park Sales Department by calling 770-498-5700.
